Sanofi-Aventis says it has new evidence that its lixisenatide, a new once-a-day treatment for people with Type 2 diabetes, works well, according to a recent article from Fierce Biotech. The drug is currently in a late-stage, Phase III clinical trial.
The company said it will release more details on the study, which involved 361 patients, later this year. The drug belongs to a class known as GLP-1 drugs. Analysts note that there have been a number of drugs developed in this class recently by companies such as Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk.
