Low-Carb Meals After Exercise Helps Insulin Sensitivity

Aerobic exercise can help people with Type 2 diabetes increase their insulin sensitivity. However, a new study says that this is most effective followed by low carb meals, according to a recently published article from Diabetes Health.

The study from the University of Michigan also found that eating low-calorie meals showed no benefit over low-carb meals when it comes to insulin sensitivity. Lastly, the researchers found that while the exercise may provide immediate benefits to the individual, they do not last very long or have a cumulative effect in this area, meaning each exercise session is important and that exercising a few times and then stopping will not produce any long-term benefits.
