Garlic May Prevent Diabetes-Related Heart Troubles

New research suggests that garlic has high potential to ward of diabetic cardiomyopathy, a form of heart disease that impacts people with diabetes, according to an article from Exam Health.

People who have diabetes have an increased risk of developing cardiovascular problems. High blood sugar levels, or hyperglycemia, inflames and weakens the heart tissue.

In a recent study, diabetic rats were given either garlic oil or corn oil. Those given the garlic showed positive changes associated with the antioxidants that helped protect the heart from damage.
