Canadian researchers are claiming that citrus fruits can help control Type 2 diabetes, according to a report in the Times of India.
A flavinoid called naringenin has insulin-like properties that can help control Type 2 diabetes, says a study by the University of Western Ontario. Flavinoids are found in plants and they promote antioxidant activity with body. Specifically, the study found that naringenin prevented insulin resistance in mice and therefore helped normalize their glucose metabolism.
The flavinoid also helps the body burn excess fat.
