Twilight Star Helps Raise Cash for Diabetes Research

Kristen Stewart, who plays the character Bella Swan in the immensely popular vampire saga Twilight and New Moon movies showed up at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation raise awareness and money for a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

Stewart and boxer Sugar Ray Leonard served as ambassadors for the walk, which aimed to raise at least $2 million. Last year the walk raised $1.8 million. In brief on-stage remarks, Stewart congratulated the crowd on their dedication and said she is new to the JDRF.

Other than playing Jodi Foster’s diabetic daughter in the movie Panic Room, it is unclear what connection, if any, the 19 year old actress has to the disease. However, its great to see her join the growing number of celebrities helping to raise awareness and money for a cure for the disease.
