Kiss-a-Pig Diabetes Fundraiser Kicks off This Weekend

An annual diabetes fundraising event centered around kissing a pig is about to kick off this weekend. The 11th annual Kiss a Pig (KAP) Fundraising event, sponsored by the the Charleston Gold Dome Lions Club (CGDLC) and the West Virginia Branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), aims to raise money for research and a cure for diabetes and other Lions Club initiatives.

The pig has always held a special place among the diabetes community since it was the first source of insulin, dating back to 1921. For the contest, the local candidate that raises the most dollars will get the honor of kissing the pig. That’s right, the “winner” kisses the pig.

Donations, which are tax deductible, can be made payable to Kiss-A-Pig Program and sent to P. O. Box 2385, Charleston, WV 25328. Donors should be sure to indicate which candidate they are voting for.
