U.S. House of Representatives Passes Diabetes Research Resolution

This week the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution (H. Res 35) calling for increased funding for Type 1 diabetes research, which seeks to find a cure for the disease as well as focuses on prevention and lessening the impact of its complications , according to an article published recently in the Examiner.

The resolution was introduced by democratic Texas Rep. Gene Green and is co-sponsored by 101 members of the House. It calls for the National Institute of Health to double the $433 million it provided in diabetes research in 2009.
