Diabetes News Hound Launches Experts Initiative

Diabetes News Hound is proud to announce the launch of its Experts Initiative, which is designed to complement its stellar news coverage. The initiative consists of periodic guest columns on very niche diabetes-related topics that are not covered in the mainstream press, including dealing with long-term complications of diabetes, travelling with diabetes, family planning, mental health, parenting as a diabetic, parenting a child with diabetes, awareness, social networking in the diabetes community.

We have assembled a top-notch team of inaugural experts. They are:

* A. Kelsey Metcalf will be writing about travelling with diabetes as well as the challenges of parenting as a person with diabetes. Kelsey has Type 1 diabetes.

* Mark-John Clifford will be writing about raising diabetes awareness and social networking in the diabetes community. Mark-John has Type 1.5 diabetes (LADA)

* Phil Eager writes about diabetes and stress management, mental health, family matters and the importance of communication. Phil, who’s column runs today, has Type 1 diabetes.

* Tammy Galligher will write about dealing with long-term diabetes. She has Type 1 diabetes.

The Experts will write periodic columns based on their own personal experience and research and largely focus on the social aspects of diabetes. They are intended to be informative, interesting and provide tips to readers on various topis, but do not constitute professional medical advice. For that, readers should make sure to consult a physician.

We hope to continue to expand the Experts initiative into further niche areas. If you are interested in possibly becoming a Diabetes News Hound Expert and have an ‘expertise’ in a partiular area that you think would be helpful or interesting to others, please send a note to editor-in-chief Chris Frankie at cfrankie@diabetesnewshound.com with your area of interest and qualification. While our inaugural panel consists of Experts that live with diabetes, having diabetes is not a requirement to be an Expert.

Additional future topics can include, but are not limited to: Insulin Pumps, Gestational Diabetes, Pre Diabetes, Medical Professionals Treating Diabetic Patients, Diabetes Educators, the Politics of Diabetes, Research Developments, and a wide range of Type 2 diabetes issues.
