Animas Corporation said recently that some of its 2.0 mL insulin cartridges shipped between Nov. 30, and Jan. 4, may leak insulin, which means the pumps may deliver less insulin than expected. In addition, the company said the leak may cause the pump not to alarm correctly if there is an “occlusion in the infusion set.” The full letter is posted here on the website dLife.
A shortage of insulin in the body can cause a condition known as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), which can lead to death.
To find out if you received a cartridge impacted by the recall, check the side panel for the lot number. Cartridge lot numbers included in the recall are: B201575, B201576, B201581, B201582, B201583. The company says if you are currently using one of these cartridges, you should change it right away.

Thanks for this – we use the Animas pump, and these cartridges, and I am very upset we did not hear about this from Animas first. Now to see if we have the affected lot.
First the Triad recall (prep pads) and now this. If the manufacturers would follow their quality control practices, we wouldn’t be in this mess. OOoooo.
